How To Grow Lavender From Cuttings

Propagating lavender cuttings is not difficult, and it’s a fun way to get more plants for your garden. We’ll show you everything you need to know about how this works with detailed instructions!

Learning how to propagate lavender plants will allow you grow as much of them in your garden.

STEP 1: CUT THE STEMS

You won’t believe how easy it is to grow your own lavender plant! To get started, select a healthy-looking stem from the bottom of an already thriving lavender plant. Use sharp knife and make 3-4 inch cut stem from the bottom.

Be sure the stem doesn’t have any buds on it and that the color looks healthy. Remove the lower leaves of the stem and cut off a small bottom portion with a knife.

STEP 2: PLACE THE CUTTINGS

Plant your cuttings in a pot, container or directly into the garden. Be sure that there’s well draining soil and you put them somewhere sunny! Fertilize once every week with an organic flower fertilizer- this will help make sure they grow quickly.

STEP 3: CARE

Continue to monitor your lavender cuttings. Be sure the soil is always moist, but also be careful not over water them.

You’ll be able to smell the sweet scent of lavender in about 2 months!
