8 Amazing Reasons Why You Should Grow Mint At Home And How To Do It

If you grow it at home, here are some of the best ways to use mint:

Digestion

Mint leaves are a great way to ease indigestion and stomach problems. Mint contains antioxidants that strengthen your digestive system, while also relaxing the muscles of your stomach to reduce spasms and bloating.

Relieves headaches

The refreshing aroma of mint oil rapidly relieves headaches and nausea.

To ease a headache, gently rub some mint oil on your forehead and nose.

Decongestant

Sipping on mint tea can help relieve congestion by clearing your throat, nose and respiratory channels.

Mint has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce nasal swelling so you feel more comfortable.

Fatigue

A whiff of mint might be all you need to get your brain functioning again.

Mint is a natural stimulant that can reduce stress and depression because it relaxes the body and calms the mind, releasing serotonin in just small amounts into our brains.

So next time you feel like you need a boost or want to calm down before an exam, draw yourself up some warm bath with mint leaves mixed inside!

Skin care

Mint leaves can help treat and prevent skin problems such as acne, bug bites/stings from mosquitoes, gnats etc.

They have antioxidants to clear your complexion naturally while fighting off inflammation or bacteria which cause pimples.

Weight loss

Thanks to its stimulating properties, mint can encourage your body to lose weight. Mint is a stimulant that stimulates digestive enzymes in the gut which absorb nutrients from food while consuming fat and turning it into usable energy.

Asthma

Mint is a great option for anyone who suffers from asthma. This superfood has rosmarinic acid which blocks allergy-producing leukotrienes and antioxidants that help clear the respiratory tract making it perfect to add in daily routines!

Oral care

All the benefits of mint in your mouth are amazing, from preventing bacterial growth to giving you a fresh breath. Chew or rub on teeth and gums!

How to grow it

Mint is a plant that can be grown in many ways. To grow it all you need are 12-16 inches wide, water retaining container, potting soil and the mint itself!

Mint plants have runners which sprout new leaves while growing away from each other. You may tame this evasive plant by ensuring to keep away from any others around them during growth’s process since they will take over if not contained properly.

The mint plant needs to be in a place where it can get ample sunlight. Make sure the soil is damp and keep away from drying and heating elements, but do not over water it.

If you need more leaves for cooking or other projects, trimming should start at the top of the stem with branches growing outwards on sides while cutting off any flower buds along the way down towards the bottom of the stem.

Don’t take more than 1/3 of the leaves after you start harvesting because this could cause your mint to run out.

To dry them, either hang from stems or lay flat on a tray and once brittle store in an airtight container.

How to use it

Mint is a versatile herb with an incredible array of both culinary and medicinal uses.

Mint goes well in many dishes, from salads to veggies to even potatoes! The most refreshing way to consume mint is through beverages such as tea or cocktails, for example the delicious ginger-cucumber-mint lemonade I’m drinking now 🙂
